Diagnosis on the Lamictal ADR rash...

So I saw my GP this afternoon- God how I love that man!
Diagnosis: Not the deadly rashes, but as he put it,
"A drug induced Lupus rash."

He said it is VERY rare- so much so that he called
his associate in to see it.

They couldn't believe it was induced by ONE 25mg dose.

Filing an ADR with Glaxco & Company.

They took about 5 blood samples and gave me a cortisone shot.
He said it should clear in a few days now.

Amazing- I just happen to be in the smallest percentage of people
who have this particular reaction to the drug.

Lucky me, eh?

2. Yes, after many years of trying,

I finally feel REALLY good about all of my doctors-
My GP, my PD, my dentist AND I have the BEST gyn in the world!
I feel VERY fortunate indeed.

What I really like about my GP is he is extremely knowledgable in many areas!
RARE in a GP.
He always seems to find the problem with in 15 minutes and never
does testing that is unrelated to his diagnosis.

I had a pinched nerve on a rib this year-
thought I was having a heart attack!

Another doctor in the practice saw me- she is gone now...yay.
NEVER even touched the area of pain-
She sent me for an MIR, a catscan, and other tests-
NO relief. No diagnosis.

I went back and they told me she was gone!
NO notification, no follow up.
They put me with this new doctor and turned my records over to him

He examined me, as in touched the area in question-
diagnosed the pinched nerve in 5 minutes- identified the
location- gave me shot in my back and I had relief in 15 minutes.

I had to go back for one more shot a few months later, but
so far, no relapse- AND he told me what was causing the pain
and how the particular shot was breaking up the "clusters" as he referred to them.

Same thing happened today- he took one look at my face and diagnosed
correctly what was wrong.

I am SO fortunate to have found him.

I have one, too. It makes a difference, doesn't it?

Mine diagnosed by thyroid condition when other docs ignored it. When I was coming down with e. coli, he figured out that something was very wrong and made sure I got to the hospital immediately. I was admitted through the emergency room, and medevaced to a larger hospital.

I have a good dentist, too.

This GP is picky. When he refers me to a specialist, they are always tops. He won't refer his patients to anyone questionable.

I am glad about your doc, but sorry about the rash. Get better soon.

Not completely cleared, but 80% better than before the cortisone shot.
And yes, a good GP makes ALL the difference!

When I lost my insurance for a time he said- just come in if you need to
and I'll treat you (my shots for my pinched nerve et al) for the office visit cost. ($85)
Not bad, not bad at all considering what it would be WITH insurance.
The health care industry is the mafia and I am all for reform.
With the exception of my dentist- all of my doctors have offered minimum
payment when I have no insurance- THOSE are the doctors we need in this country!

I'm glad you have a good GP. With some you'd be going through a battery of needless tests about now.
