"Several New York repositories have formed a partnership with Ancestry.com to digitize family history records and make them available on line for free. The list of records available is located in the bottom right corner of the Ancestry.com New York web page. Descriptions of the records as well as the holding organizations are provided through the links and logos on the Ancestry.com New York web page."

This is not a one time deal - it is a regular agreement for the repositories involved.

But wanted to be sure those who needed the New York connections could see it.

For me, it was not that great of news. I already have a membership in Ancestry and generally go through what they have, then FamilySearch.org, then look for state archives and local history sites, like GenWeb. So the New York stuff online seems to already be available at Ancestry which saves me work, but doesn't give me another place to look.

3. Yeah, I have an Ancestry membership, too, so it wasn't like "extra stuff"

But if I ever have to suspend my subscription for any length of time, I will have it
