What's for Dinner, Wed., June 9, 2021

Day 3 of heat wave. Will not, repeat, will not heat up anything in the kitchen.

I think I'll make a cold cut sandwich and pile it high with veggies like tomato slices, lettuce, scallion, zucchini, and microgreens (leek).

Dessert: a friend dropped off a container of lemon sorbet last night. That will fit the bill for dessert.

It was a tremendous burrito stuffed with marinated chicken. i couldn't identify the seasonings in the chicken. There was garlic and perhaps cumin and I dunno. It wasn't like many I've had with a ton of cilantro. It was very tasty.

I noted that the delivery menu had Salvadorian items which I want to try. Papusas and baleadas in particular.

FLFC has had all sorts of stuff today, a little at a time. He rarely eats a big meal any more, but still demands some of everything and as always, decides most of it doesn't meet his taste. He has defied the vet's predictions of his demise by five months and remains his old goofy but much less energetic self.

I was going to make a potato salad to go with them, but...

Cuddles the cat escaped the house this morning. Spent hours trying to get her back in the house (she is back in) but managed to pull a calf muscle in the process. I'm having a bit of a hard time getting around.

I made a shrimp stir-fry over jasmine rice for Dad. I'm going to let Al make the burgers.

Only because the community reviews were so positive — and because they had me at “sour cherry.”

Charred Gochujang Pork Chops with Sour Cherry Soy Sauce & Ginger-Honey Carrots.

We liked it.

Also: champagne, and for dessert maybe part of a leftover brownie from our Pizza Hut foray for The Edge.

Mysterious thinly sliced radishes with rice vinegar and sugar (or Splenda). They were good until they started to get gassy like cabbage.

That sour cherry glaze though. Winner.
