Picked up some groceries at Walmart

This morning was my first Walmart trip since the start of the pandemic—with an N95 mask clamped to my face, of course.

Holy hell!

I’d gotten used to spot shortages at grocery stores, but Walmart is positively post apocalyptic.

Everything from the dollar stores, to target, to big box chain stores. Even the supermarkets are fully stocked.

I don't go to walmart unless I have zero options, so can't say what they are like. But if they are short stocked, I wouldn't expect them to stay open in my area for long.

nor empty shelves as before. I too am curious where this Walmart is.. Perhaps it is a lingering issue after Hurricane Ida and the floods?

Bare shelves. No water. They weren't making rotisserie chickens.

The place had the look of a store that was just selling what they had left on their shelves and not reordering. They looked like they were liquidating and ultimately closing.

When we left the store I asked the receipt checking lady if the store was closing and she told me that they've been having problems getting shipments from their distribution centers.

Lack of product at the distribution centers. Fewer drivers of their trucks.

So I'm wondering if Wal-Mart's are experiencing the same.

They run their stores with as few employees as they could. Most don't have the slightest inkling about any of the items they sell and how they are used. They can't answer any questions.

Home Depot takes DIY to its nth degree - because their employees suck.

Quite frankly - I don't know how they stay in business.

I really prefer Menards over Home Depot.

needs a competent professional to answer, construction-wise, really needs to go to a construction person to have answered. Retail is retail and I don't expect any serious professionals to work at HD (or any other like place, such as Lowe's, Menard's, etc.), although some do work there. But they are few and far in-between.

Personally, I think Menards is a joke, but that's me.

Throw in the Labor Day weekend and most grocery stores look like a swarm of locust has been through them.

It would explain the bare bread aisle, but not why the giant Haagen Dazs display in the freezer case had only three flavors—vanilla, strawberry, and pineapple coconut. In some places they’d obviously arranged products to cover bare areas.

They are totally wiped out. No snow or hurricane to use as excuse. Just frisks sitting around waiting for ship to get there I guess.

Went to a Walmart Friday. Shelves were stocked pre Labor Day
Some stuff bought down like bottled water. I found the items I needed but didn’t get too much.
