Burgers on brioche rolls and sweet potato cottage fries.
Mixed hatch chilies and provolone in the burger mix.
Regarding the soup I made yesterday (tomato soup with garbanzos and rosemary):
I made a mistake with it and wasn't happy with this dish. Trouble is, I didn't know what my mistake was. I just knew I was not excited about having it at future meals.
The RG is away on business, so I emailed him the recipe, which he thought had good ingredients. He made a few suggestions, such as adding 1/2 cup of white wine, which I tried. It did improve, but it wasn't great.
Then I remembered something he told me a long time ago: fresh tomatoes, when used in soup, require quite a bit of salt.
Sure enough, when I added more salt, the dish came alive and I liked it a lot. It really is a good soup now, with the fresh flavors of tomato, celery, onion, etc.
Problem solved.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments on my new dinnerware. Bucolic, I had to look up those various patterns you mentioned. You have some pretty dishes, and yes, I am going to use this every day. I won't be saving for special occasions.
Spare ribs, slow baked and a bit of BBQ sauce to finish
Baked cabbage wedges with onion
Frozen broccoli and cauliflower
FLFC is tormented by the aroma and just can't wait. He's having some dog food and some ground beef to tide him over.

(43,128 posts)NJCher, OMGoodness, looking up my patterns. They are old. Mid Century Colonial. People in white houses with 4 course dinners every weekend. Linen tablecloths, napkins. Prim and proper. It was part of my childhood I suppose but not much after 70s or 80s.
