What's for Dinner, Fri., Oct. 8, 2021

I invited a friend to have dinner with my brother and me. We will be having tortellini with fresh tomato sauce. The tortellini is stuffed with cheese and spinach.

Tossed green salad with romaine and arugula. Chopped red and yellow peppers, cucumbers, scallion. Radishes, carrot.

Dessert: pumpkin roll, decaf coffee.

---------------

I received this email from the RG a couple nights ago. He is in Rome. Turns out he was seated next to a noteworthy American at the restaurant. Guess who? Here is his email:

A friend came to Rome to have dinner with me. I took him to my favorite place. Reservations at 8 pm. The place is on a small street. We arrived in a taxi & the street was blocked off with police cars and there were 10-15 special forces with machine guns.

Told the guy in charge that I had a reservation. He asked my name & with his earpiece spoke to someone & then let us pass. Long black vans & a limousine were lined up bumper to bumper in front of the restaurant, blocking the entrance. When I arrived in front, the owner came out a gave me big hug. Then we went in.

There were maybe 4-6 people dining in one room. In another room there was a long table with at least 18-20 people. All dressed in business attire with small buttons in every lapel--government employees.

There was another small table for 2 opposite the long table. The owner sat us at the only other table (middle of the room). We sat down and chatted a bit, then I looked to my left. Guess who!

Nancy Pelosi! Turns out it is her favorite place to have dinner when in Rome.

If you Google "Pelosi Rome" you will find out why she was in Rome. It's on her .gov web page. There are also pictures if you do a pic search.

Too bad you couldn't be traveling with the RG, NJCher!

We're going to an East Side Indian restaurant in NYC this evening. I'm feeling like a vindaloo but I'll wait to see.

Enjoy your evening.

I'm having pizza, 3rd night in a row, because I knew something was up. Nah. I had nothing defrosted. Today's sauce is more a vegetable sauce than a tomato sauce so it will be different.

We had a starter salad of iceberg, carrots, celery, grape tomatoes, and Vidalia onion. Bottled dressing of choice.

Chicken Marsala served over gnocci.

North Carolina lemon pie for dessert.
