Okay, I lost my mind this year and decided to do 3 fair cakes.

Now I'm not too happy with any of them. First attempt at buttercream palette knife decorating..

Next, a take off from a Debby Brown design.

And the last was a complete failure. Attempted to do this cake, wrapped in a sugar sheet, but found it was too humid and sagged. So, I had to go with a plain fondant instead.

Will be taking them 60 miles to Illinois State Fair on Sunday. No chance of championship this year.

I'll take them off your hands. Bet they go well with sherbet ice cream and some berries.

But I get wanting a project of mine to be just so, instead of me thinking it came out so-so.

Still, your cakes are great!

I’ve seen presentation is one thing taste is another which usually tips the balance.
Is that how it works at your fair?

The exteriors are all real, edible stuff, but the inside is a foam dummy or a cake pan. It's like the cakes you see in bakery windows.

I don't even understand the art of cooking and baking. Putting a list of ingredients in an oven and pulling out a meatloaf or a perfect cake is pure sorcery to me.
