What's for Dinner, Tues., Mar. 21, 2023

Above is a pic of the restaurant my friend and I went to last night. I bought an extra dinner to take home because I knew I'd be planting today. I have mahi mahi and shrimp with coconut milk, cilantro, tomatoes, which is supposed to be served over yuca flour puree for tonight.

Lemon ginger kombucha.

Last night I had a salad (baby arugula, mango, and candied pistachios) with orange vinaigette.

The entree I had was 3 little pastries made with yuca and filled with dried beef and butternut squash.

Everything was top notch. The chef is well known around here and has had this restaurant for over a decade

Chicken thigh whatever and garlic sour cream and parm mashed potatoes and peas.

We did our grocery order pickup/errand run today and later than normal because of rain this morning (I watch the weather forecast when I place my weekly order so those kids don't have to load the car in bad weather.) Also bought a new bed for the dog since she was accidentally urinating on her old one when she was having problems last week.

All that to say, we had lunch while out, so that was my meal of the day.

Aboard a boat, there’s usually a nice dinner the evening before departure. Tomorrow we’re sailing to Key Largo and The First Mate has gone all out.

Shrimp cocktails (3each) with lemon and cocktail sauce.

Ravioli stuffed with lobster topped with a homemade tomato sauce. Shaved Asiago cheese and freshly ground black pepper on top.

Chianti.

Dessert salad of Romaine hearts with orange slices, red seedless grapes, raspberries and pine nuts. A drizzle of olive oil.

K liked her meal, but I wasn't as enthusiastic about mine. I wasn't particularly hungry though, so that probably contributed.

thinking to make some sort of braise in the InstantPot. Got home to find the power out, due to hurricane-level winds. Then one of our trees fell, smushing the neighbors' car (their house was intact, luckily, and we were able to clear a path to it with hand saws and loppers). Since we have a gas stovetop, we were able to braise and cook the ribs in between calls to 911 asking when they were going to do anything about the wires all over the sidewalk and street. When the power finally came back on we steamed some artichokes. It was a rather disjointed meal.
