Related: About this forumIs there such a thing as grenadine made with real sugar as opposed to HFCS?
Does anyone know where I can get some? I am not sure I could make it...i might have to try.

(36,814 posts)I have no aversion to HFCS, but I make my own because commercial grenadine isn't made with real pomegranate juice and it's expensive.
My recipe:
240 grams sugar (roughly 1 1/4 cup)
1 cup POM
1 oz vodka
Put the sugar in a blender and run for a few seconds until it turns into superfine sugar. Put all the ingredients in an old 12oz grenadine bottle and shake until the sugar dissolves. Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

(35,568 posts)This recipe requires a little cooking but it's very easy.
2-1/4 pounds pomegranates
2 cups water
Sugar
Separate the pomegranate seeds from the membranes and skin. In a heavy saucepan, cover pomegranate seeds with 2 cups of water and simmer, stirring until juice sacs release their juice, about 5 minutes. Pour through a cheesecloth-layered sieve into a bowl, pressing the juice from the seeds. Discard seeds.
Measure the strained pomegranate juice and add an equal amount of sugar. Pour into saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Add food coloring, if desired.
