Not sure...but I made a big pot of 16 bean soup for Friday's dinner - so that probably will factor in somehow. Maybe with some sauteed kale and fresh bread...

Coleslaw (no mayo, though, vinegar dressing).
I'm also making my own beet juice tonight. I've read that it brings down blood pressure by about 10 points if one drinks 8 oz. a day.
Supposed to mix it with apple juice or pear juice (or both) because of the oxalic acid content. I just love doing stuff like this.

(4,631 posts)when you mix in carrot juice and parsley
NJCher
(35,644 posts)I'll try it tomorrow. I even have some stuff growing in my garden that's a cross between parsley and celery. It's called par-cel.
But the carrot juice I'll have to buy.
I am sipping my beet juice now, having combined it with apple juice and I find it quite delicious...and very pretty!

I don't know if your husband is seeking to lower his blood pressure, so this might not be of interest. I thought I'd post it anyway, as so many people have a bit of a blood pressure problem.
I bought three large beets for $2 at my Korean greengrocer. This made three 8 oz. glasses of beet juice.
The price for beet juice bottled was $8, so as you can see, this was a considerable savings--$4 a serving for the bottled vs. 66 cents per serving by making my own.
Another thing I'm going to do is add 1 tsp. cayenne to my homemade tomato juice. I always have fresh tomatoes around and love to make my own tomato juice with my favorite herbs, mostly marjoram or oregano.
Cayenne is known to lower blood pressure fairly quickly--within a week, some sources say. I don't know, as I haven't tried it but a friend has reported that it works.
