Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee (Original Post) hobbit709 Aug 2013 OP
From my research, highly overrated - see what Sweet Maria (green bean supplier) NRaleighLiberal Aug 2013 #1
If you ever had it in Jamaica, you wouldn't say that. hobbit709 Aug 2013 #2
Maybe...but for me (retired - fixed income), it has to be about value vs price NRaleighLiberal Aug 2013 #3

has to say http://www.sweetmarias.com/coffee/islands/jamaica?source=side

I purchase and roast Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Guatamalas for 6-7 dollars per pound - they are so good that I can't imagine coffee being much better....

There are also some great roasters (NOT Charbucks or Peets) that will ship great coffee - this is a really good site - http://www.coffeereview.com/

I first started home roasting in 2007.....it spoiled me! Been roasting weekly ever since (using the same 30 dollar whirly pop!)

so if I enjoy something at X price, I won't enjoy it 10 times more for a 10X price - I've gone that way with wine as well - can enjoy a 6 dollar Trader Joe Prosecco just as much these days as a 50 dollar botte of Veuve Cliquot!

It's my only splurge and to me it's worth it. I first had it in Jamaica 40 years ago.
I don't drink, shouldn't eat sweets, so there's not much left I can still enjoy.
