Related: About this forumThank you, thank you Texas, for ruby red GRAPEFRUITS!
So so so delicious this year. Five for a dollah! Yum! I would eat several a day except that they might interfere with medication. But I have a whole one, peeled and eaten out of hand. I think the pith might be very nutritious -- read something recently about the good stuff in orange pith.

(22,084 posts)We've been eating them for weeks and I'm about to buy some more, although they are 49 cents each here. Maybe they will be cheaper today .

(12,249 posts)When I lived in Oklahoma, guys would go door-to-door selling them (and oranges) and there is no better fruit to be had than Rio Grande grapefruit. I'd always buy a crate of them half grapefruit/half oranges. Better'n candy! Glad you scored, grasswire!

(8,692 posts)I remember when I was a kid, my grandaddy in Corpus would send a box full for Xmas (in my kid brain in was Xmas- could be wrong about that) from his trees in the back yard. Sadly one year they froze and never returned. Haven't had one in a while. Thanks for the reminder!
