I finally got a Costco card

Always thought I would never buy enough but I split some of the vegs, paper stuff, etc with friends and think I'll save enough on printer ink, laundry soap etc to make it worthwhile. Also, I'm so mad Boulder has a new Walmart after fighting against it so long that I want to say thank you to Costco for their business practices. And go to Trader Joe's when it opens in the spring.

but they let me reactivate it. I have a mini freezer so I can split huge packages of fresh seafood into single portions and freeze it. Ditto some of the fruits and veggies in season which can be frozen. Their bagged frozen fish can't be beat, it's not full of water like the stuff in the supermarket. Harder cheeses like cheddar also freeze well. Butter will also freeze very well.

And, like you said, the printer ink is a steal. So is the maple syrup.

I also get the gallon freezer bags for my wool stash. Moths have never been able to chew through the heavy plastic.

I also use their pharmacy. The list of cheap generics there is impressive.

Oh, and their generic all purpose concentrated cleaner is great, too. You dilute the stuff down and put it in spray bottles for general cleaning and it works the same as the fancy brand name stuff. Full strength, it'll remove paint and degrease a driveway.

Continue to discover all the good stuff there. You'll never regret getting that membership.

$15-17 for 360 tablets - I save enough to pay the Costco membership! Most of our other vitamins and supplements come from there. I love the Kirkland Organic No-Salt Seasoning for when I'm too lazy to decide on spices. The cashews are awesome and cheap.

Last time I made it there, I bought salad and the fancy one with cranberries and nuts was wonderful.

My only complaint is that they are not very convenient for me to get to so I don't go often enough.

I live alone, but I still shop at Costco. Cut things up and freeze them. I recently got a bunch of wild caught IQF shrimp. Just shrimp, no additives. I was able to break down the package into smaller portions and keep the shrimp frozen.

I'm eating some tonight. Yum!

Other Costco stuff I recommend-
Organic fresh chicken breast
2# bags of organic rainforest coffee
Organic ground beef
Gigantic in-store fresh made pizza for around $9 (sometimes less on sale)
Fresh french style green beans
Ling Ling frozen pot stickers
Famous Dave's Pickles
32 oz jar of giardinera pepper mix
Cheese, cheese, cheese!
Multivitamins, glucosamine, claritin prices are nice

Oh, and you can get a hot dog or polish sausage plus a soda for $1.50

From the mischief files-
I also recommend placing other book titles on top of the Hannity, O'Reilly, et al books.
I have been known to relocate a Britta water filtration pitcher or two on top of the bottled water.

Just discovered those myself earlier this year.

I thought I might not buy bulk either but then I realized there are many things I'd be buying anyway like coffee or Greek yogurt...so I may as well save money on them.

And the gas is much cheaper too.

i'd think that would be the sort of thing they'd resist pretty strongly.

fort collins is getting a costco and trader joe's in the next year or so and i'm pretty excite for that.

We fought it for more than a decade. Last year they applied for a permit without using the walmart name and nobody knew about it till months later. City council said it couldn't be denied. Lots of protests, letters, etc. but to no avail. The day it opened many people outside holding up signs asking Boulder not to shop there, but unfortunately it seems to have a lot of customers. Not a superstore but in a bad place, lots of traffic and across the street from the Safeway.
You'll enjoy this: I wrote a letter to the Boulder Camera about walmart's terrible treatment of workers, business practices, obscene profits, driving out small businesses, etc.; on my phone a msg was left: "Piss off, you elitist pig!" (Sorry, sir, but I'm not one of the wealthy Boulderites, just a Republic of Boulder liberal trying to protect workers.)
We will have a Trader Joe's opening next year. Good for Ft. Collins!

there are four walmarts within a half hour drive from me. timnath gets the kudos from the costco, which, as i understand it, is going to open next to the walmart at the harmony exit.

trader joe's (i can't express how excite i am about this) is part of the city's revitalization plan for 'mid-town'. it won't be in a bad location for me, but traffic will be an issue if they wind up doing everything they're planning for the area.
