I thought I was the only one who didn't like marshmallows. I am fine with them in a smore, but room temperature marshmallows taste like snot to me. Everyone else in my family loves them, so I would stick with this recipe and just not eat the marshmallow. Or, I might use yogurt covered raisins or some other piercable white confection.

According to the song, we have to find ways to make it more accurate: NOTE- Song edited-

You’re a mean one Mr. Grinch
You really are a heel.
You're as cuddly as a cactus,
And as charming as an eel,
Mr. Grinch!
You're a bad banana,
With a greasy black peel!
.
Your brain is full of spiders.
You've got garlic in your soul,
\
You have termites in your smile.
You have all the tender sweetness
Of a seasick crocodile,
Mr. Grinch!

!
Your heart's a dead tomato,
Splotched with moldy, purple spots,
Mr. Grinch!

You're a three-decker sauerkraut
and toadstool sandwich,
With arsenic sauce!

Now, this is a challenge

except I use pecans in place of the almonds. One pinecone is a horseradish cheddar spread, the other is a garlic Parmesan cream cheese spread.

It's always a big hit...and so pretty.

I love the little santa heads, but I too would go with savory.

Parmesan Cheese Spread
12 oz cream cheese softened
1/3 cup grated Parmesan
1/4 cup mayo
1/2 tsp oregano leaves crushed
1/8 tsp garlic powder (I use fresh minced...a couple of cloves)

Cheddar Cheese Spread
4 cups finely shredded Cheddar (1 lb)
2/3 cups mayo
2 tbsp horseradish
dash Tabasco
salt
pepper

I love both of these but the parmesan garlic is my favorite.

I wonder what I could use in lieu of the marshmallows (which contain gelatin, a no-no). Anybody got ideas for a substitute? I suppose I could cut a banana slice into quarters or eighths and use that...

both the marshmallow and the banana and use a white cheese.

Was thinking I might make up a few of these using a smoked gouda?

Vegan person here, that's why I don't eat marshmallows.

But I wasn't always a vegan, and do remember smoked cheese - that does sound like a tasty appetizer!

Peeling and slicing a mild flavored raw squash to use instead of the cheese or marshmallow?

Or you could also cut fresh apple to serve the purpose.

We are wrapping presents in B&N and this brings bigger donations to the charity. I got most of the pieces on sale after Christmas (did you know candy canes are good for several years? - it is according to the expiration date on the ones I bought and they cost 10 Cents on the dollar.

Very fun indeed. Had no idea about the expiration but certainly sugar is one of those keeps-nearly-forever materials... as long as nature's little creatures don't find it and nibble. I found a bunch of stored decorations from a couple years ago had been 'found' by some curious rodentia and they had a feast. Hopefully it was a minty sweet free-for-all with their furry littlun's.

Hope the sale goes well!
