Costco organic chicken breasts, pounded flat, seasoned, breaded with crushed pretzels, baked 400 for 20 min.
Organic green beans, steamed and drizzled with organic garlic butter.
Mashed potatoes made with organic chicken stock and butter.
Maybe a glass or two or three or four of wine.

Are you going to have applesauce and sour cream?

Could you share your recipe?

my hand slipped while i was adding the cinnamon, so that flavor was a little overwhelming, didn't add enough chili seasoning (i use a locally made spice blend) and it just never came together. i usually baby my chili, but it was a crock pot job while i was at work. husband was supposed to keep an eye on it but just left it to its own devices.

he liked it fine, i found it nearly inedible.

I learned some time ago to not depend on hubby to watch over anything I am cooking.

Hope you are able to fix it. Do you think potatoes might absorb some of the excess cinnamon?

maybe i'll give it a try. i'm hoping the fat from the sausage, a bit more salt and more spice will balance it out. i'm pretty sure i can fix it, if i can't, he'll be the one eating the leftovers.

last time i ask husband to babysit my chili >_<

I think I will make some good refried beans and rice. I can put cheese on it and maybe have a BLT tostado. And we have some really good avocados.

Not much in the mood for cooking tonight.

I do it all in one big skillet. Saute the veggies in olive oil. Turn, turn turn. Remove and set aside. Add enough water back to the skillet to make a good serving of pasta. When done, drain and return to the skillet with the veggies. Toss all, smother with sauce and simmer.

I live in a condo complex and we don't get to know neighbors well but last week we were all in a huge gas and electric power outage so we quickly got acquainted in the cold and dark. Neighbors celebrating tonight that it's no longer -15, we can enjoy Colorado again, and may be a little better for prepared for the next "crisis." Just hoping 2014 won't bring any more wildfires, massive floods, power outages ETC!

Eggnog (with or without brandy), hot spiced apple cider, small quiches, soft French cheese with French bread, shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon, veggies with spinach dip, stuffed dates, Christmas cookies and candy.

We went to a Chinese restaurant we've been going to for decades. It is a quite well known establishment that brings in chefs from China on a "guest" basis. They only stay four months at a time and then go back.

We had an appetizer platter where you cook the appetizers over a grill at the table. Then soup (hot and sour). After that we had a couple entrees--one chicken, the other pork.

Dessert was ginger ice cream.
