(219 posts)I'd like to post but it probably won't be anything exciting. Probably mac n cheese. It's not my budget, it's just my talent is lacking!
The wallet is willing the cooking skills are weak.

(14,889 posts)I test recipes for American's Test Kitchen and this recipe just happens to be one of the recipes that I'm testing. Very easy, with regular ingredients (ahem, other than saffron threads which I'm going to point out in the survey that I participate in).
Additionally, what I typically cook are just your old run of the mill, good old tasty food recipes.
Please do not feel intimidated. We are just a bunch of people who like to cook, sometimes extravagant if the moment inspires us, but some mostly, just good old tasty food.
Edit = spelling! oy vey!

(31,170 posts)I may make a detailed fancy recipe one day and then live on cold pizza for two or three after that.
The only rule in here is to be nice and not carry the GD drama into C&B. Otherwise it's all good!

(35,654 posts)I tried to answer your question earlier, but lost the post and then got busy with other things.
Anyway, you'll enjoy this thread, I think.
We have many interesting posters. One, however, is away but she'll probably be back soon: Cbayer, who lives on a boat and cooks from there, too. She's around Mexico now, so we are enjoying learning about her adventures at the food markets and restaurants there.

(14,889 posts)And I can't believe how easy. Yes, I even did the "garnish" which truly added another level of taste.[IMG][/IMG]

(31,170 posts)I still haven't played with quinoa much and I really need to just do it.

(22,697 posts)I'll most likely do a rub. And grill some vegetables as well.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)I haven't had grilled veggies in quite a while...I usually just pan roast since we are currently grill-less. May be time to go shopping for a new one!

(22,697 posts)They turn out so good. I add a bit of soy, rice vinegar, and some sesame oil right at the end. Yum!

(41,694 posts)Do a grape tomato salad on the side with blue cheese dressing.

(14,889 posts)salmon patties in ages. May just have to add them to my list of things to cook this week.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)It may be the fact that I am trying to re-create a remembered taste, but mine always fall flat. My mom made the best salmon patties ever and I never got her recipe.
How do you make yours?

(50,130 posts)I will heat chicken chunks in a splash of greek salad dressing, and serve with tzatziki (yogurt, cucumber, dill, garlic, fresh mint, lemon), some baby greens and cherry tomatoes scooped into pita bread. Tabbouli alongside.
Getting in the mood for some Easter baking. Having an Easter egg hunt on the riverside lawn on Friday with twin two-year-olds and their cousins who are five and seven. I think carrot cupcakes might be in order. And I'm thinking lemon angel pie for adults. Little sandwiches. No nuts -- the twins are allergic. Maybe a bowl of defrosted peas and some blanched baby carrots for little hands. Maybe some cheese cubes, ham cubes, and a dunk. Oh, and strawberries!
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)And me as well actually...especially the carrot cake! I haven't had any in ages.
Greek sounds good to! I usually do pizza when I start craving those flavors. Need to make dough soon!

(24,146 posts)i have a bit of bbq sauce left, so i'll bake them in the sauce and toss in some pineapple. i'm thinking roasted taters and kale salad on the side.

(24,146 posts)cukes, red onion, roasted yellow peppers, blue cheese and pine nuts with a sesame, rice wine vinegar, lemon and lime vinaigrette. i jettisoned the bbq sauce in favor of cajun seasoning and pan frying. it was a pretty tasty dinner.

(3,813 posts)put the asparagus in the water with the ravioli
something new. very good, next time will add some
garlic. the cheese ravioli needed just a bit of help.
and I wanted something different, rather then red sauce.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)sounds great! I usually fall back to pesto, jarred or fresh, but sometimes a good butter sauce is hard to beat.

(35,654 posts)and cauliflower casserole. I was planning to make both dishes yesterday, but didn't get it done. I only did the macaroni and cheese, as a friend came over with the most delicious Italian sausages from WF, which we grilled on the Foreman.
So tonight I'll make the two things I had planned for last night.
It will be so nice to leisurely cook with no work hanging over my head. It will be the first time in weeks that I have had that luxury. Also to have my big kitchen windows open, looking out on the little forest.

(17,045 posts)and a green olive salad. Simple. I did way to much yard work today!

(9,821 posts)kale salad. Lime pie for dessert. It was all delicious. We cherish our asparagus patch and hope to enlarge it this fall. 4 yr. old niece finished off the bowl of it for dessert. She loves it and green beans more than anything. Hope her tastes don't change when she starts going to school.

(106,886 posts)Browned the cod under a hot broiler. Par boiled the potatoes w/ celery, garlic and onion. Savory herbs. Tossed all into a slow simmer of half 'n half with some of the potato water and butter. Lots of pepper. Toasted bread for dipping.
