What's for dinner ~ Monday ~ April 14th

Lobster bisque here. I made a stock out of the shells from yesterday's decadence, and even managed to save the meat from one of the tails. Served with crusty bread.

ps: after yesterday's twice lobsters, I blew my entertainment budget for the month.

There is a place around here that serves up some kind of crystal lobster. It's yummy! I had to run home because I have some painting to do, but the area market was on my way home. I picked up a bag of kale chips and a celery soda, so it's that, and whatever I can throw together really fast to go with it- probably pasta!

On another note, there was a woman outside the market collecting names on a petition to get my state early voting started here. I stopped to chat with her for a little, and also to invite her to DU. Like me, she loves to eat, but, can't cook much, so we'll see

Sorry for the edit, I forgot to ask if you make your own crusty bread or do you buy it?

So I buy it from a local small grocery. And, it's cheap! I tried baking a few times, but usually with laughable results. So, I leave it to the pros. And, when having soup or stew, I'll buy the day-old bread. Cuz, ya gotta dunk!

All I know about bread I learned from Ratatouille, which is to "listen for the crunch".

Well, that and watch out for mold. I've not checked for it a few times in the past, and it has bitten me more than once. Nothing ruins a good sandwich like a fuzzy mouth!

A family member of mine with a 20-year history as a chef is in central Florida. I'll have to tip him off. He's a great teacher.

Too bad I live in the high desert of SoCal. That would be one long commute. However, online works for me!

... I could not quite stop myself from making chicken soup with matzo balls, potato kugel, and for some reason choroset. Traditions are hard to break.

That sounds amazing! I am usually veggie but I cannot resist some shell food every now and then.

Tonight is just red beans and rice with some sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. It's a bit chilly here!

If done "right", it's awesome.

I use quotes because I'm not from the South. Low and slow, with awesome spices. It's a Monday meal, fer sher. It takes time, and time is love, love takes time.

Yummy!
