it'll be a later night for me. i would hit the dive for a slice, but there's a band and i won't pay a cover just to get food, so i will just figure it out later.

(146,218 posts)I had a porchetta sandwich today during our day trip to Umbria and have some leftover. Excellent.
I also have a melon which desperately needs to be cut up and have some prosciutto wrapped around it.
And leftover creamy potatoes, which I am going to doctor a bit.
One piece of leftover pizza for DH and I think we will be set!
Have a great evening!

(146,218 posts)or something.
They slice it up and put it on an excellent piece of bread and that is it.
Highly recommended if you ever get the opportunity.
Glad you had a wonderful picnic. Wish I could have been there.

(35,427 posts)And the RG is cooking. So far I see a mixed vegetable salad, potato salad made with "anchovy pesto," which is something he concocted on his own (I tasted it--absolutely delicious), watermelon-feta cheese "sandwiches," and some type of layered entree' which looks like mini-filet mignons, but I'm not sure really what they are.
Two others plus us, so small. The guests are very interesting thinkers so it should be a nice evening.

(146,218 posts)Your supper tonight sounds so wonderful and so special. My DH has many endearing qualities and I am trying to get him to help more with the cooking, but what you describe above is never going to happen. Never.
Cheers to you.

(36,214 posts)...so limes and salt for dinner, I think.
Actually, it's leftover leftovers. Duck stock from a recent carcass and shredded meat from leftover baby back pork ribs. I fried the bones in a little duck fat, added the stock, canned chopped tomatoes, a bunch of chopped chard and some roast corn, carrots and frozen peas. Simmered until it was all cooked. Served (last night) with a rib bone in every bowl-- pork rib soup! We ate it with buttered sour dough bread. There was plenty left over for tonight, too, so we can focus on whats really important.
Tequila. Everyone do your part to recognize this important national day!
you can save the lime and salt for yourself and just pass me the bottle

(146,218 posts)Your leftover dish sounds outstanding. Duck stock - can't beat that.

(36,214 posts)Maybe you could do lip service with a good bottle of wine or something, just for form's sake.

(175,695 posts)I had hoped to be able to get some decent-looking tomatoes today, but no such luck. Guess I'll have a salad.

(2,016 posts)I'm working the night shift at Mt. Wilson Observatory tonight, so I pulled out the lamb vindaloo from the freezer.
I have some leftover rice, too. Fresh peaches for dessert.

Galileo126
(2,016 posts)That's my normal gig (astronomer, here). But, this time I had to help fix one of the telescopes, and needed starlight to make sure we did it correctly.
All is well... and we let the young kids take over for the rest of the night. I got home at 3 am and had some leftover pizza. My kind of night shift.

(106,886 posts)Spicy cold fried chicken, cream cheese / jalapeno tortilla wraps, artichoke hearts, pasta & veggie salad w/ oil and red wine dressing, assorted thick sliced tomatoes with a variety of tops - hummus, smoked salmon, mushroom caps, sharp cheese - simple romaine mixed salad, bread lathered with soft garlic butter, melon, chocolate coated bread sticks, fudge, mint iced tea, wine.
And my dear twin gave me a heavy duty denim cooking apron. Multiple pockets, knee length. LOL, she knows my "style" in the kitchen.

(14,733 posts)sorta like ravioli, but folded differently, that you boil up, then put a marinara sauce over, with some garlic-butter bread.
They were too bland for my taste, I should have grated a jalapeno over them or somesuch.

(8,646 posts)We didn't have anything really, and the kids had to fend for themselves so everyone had something different and nothing exciting and some of it not very healthy at all. It's been hard to cook in my house as it gets so hot...I have a barbeque but it's gas, not propane and I can't seem to find the right hook ups for it and my dad said he'd find some and he hasn't, so now I have to go do it. It's my brother's old one and I don't know why he didn't keep the fittings. grr.
Anyway. I MEANT to have leftovers from yesterday, but just never got around to it, LOL.

(50,130 posts)It's an international test garden. Absolutely gorgeous, up in the hills over the city wi and with a view of 14,000 foot Mt. Hood, all snowy and beautiful sixty miles away. It was 78 degrees, a wonderful day. The roses were intoxicating.
So we had a picnic for lunch, and tonight just had a romaine salad with sourdough-rosemary-garlic croutons and sungold tomatoes from the garden. Loving my sungold tomatoes!
