Fresh Figs! Our tree is providing - and they are part of a great dessert I came up with...

Into an oven-proof skillet in a 400 degree oven we put a tbsp or 2 of butter, a few tbsp maple syrup, a few tsp cinnamon, and a dozen or so figs, cut in half. Roast until they sizzle nicely - in the meantime, toast some walnuts.

Serve the fig mixture over vanilla ice cream topped with the nuts - we actually switched to using Trader Joe vanilla soy creamy in place of ice cream for the last few years - in fact we like it better than real ice cream!

We at them plain, with prosciutto, with cheese and made jams. Your recipe sounds fantastic.

Enjoy them. They are some of the best fruits on earth.

severe cold this past winter. I had to cut mine to the ground in the Spring. There are a few small fruits and they might ripen before frost, but they look very puny.
