Related: About this forumFresh Figs! Our tree is providing - and they are part of a great dessert I came up with...
Into an oven-proof skillet in a 400 degree oven we put a tbsp or 2 of butter, a few tbsp maple syrup, a few tsp cinnamon, and a dozen or so figs, cut in half. Roast until they sizzle nicely - in the meantime, toast some walnuts.
Serve the fig mixture over vanilla ice cream topped with the nuts - we actually switched to using Trader Joe vanilla soy creamy in place of ice cream for the last few years - in fact we like it better than real ice cream!

Enjoy them. They are some of the best fruits on earth.

(9,823 posts)severe cold this past winter. I had to cut mine to the ground in the Spring. There are a few small fruits and they might ripen before frost, but they look very puny.
