Related: About this forumAugust 25, 21014 - Rachel Ray is 46. What are you having for supper?
We did our big shopping trip today and I found a really good fruit and vegetable stand. Arab music playing loudly and a very enthusiastic and friendly owner was just icing on the cake.
We are having Minestrone alla Romagnola. This is a soup typical of the Bologna area in northern italy. I have chopped up 8 different vegetables and will now cook with some parmesan rind and homemade meat broth for about 3 hours. So far, it smells great and it should be ready just in time.
What's on your table this Monday night?

(60,014 posts)saute with zucchini and onions, over black rice, maybe. I'll see what the energy level is like after our mid day Kayak!
Where did the last 19000 years go - time flies when you're having fun (check your date! - )

Enjoy your kayak!

(60,014 posts)We will...approaching 70 here, humidity dropped - going to bring my camera (which tends to jinx us seeing the bald eagle...but just maybe!).

(146,218 posts)Not sure if it is you or me, but Facebook knows that I despise it and sometimes retaliates.

(2,012 posts)I only have room for one tomato plant on my patio but had about 30 small ones (not cherries) this year, they tasted a lot better than store-bought. But my grandson is a real gardener and loves planting new and different veggies. He is now into vineyard growing in northern CA but tells me he still has a small garden. He's north of Napa Valley; sure hope the earthquakes calm down and the rains come to beautiful California.

Good one, CBayer!
I'm defrosting some whole chicken wings I picked up this weekend. Not sure how I'm going to prepare them yet. I have a bunch of salad stuff in the fridge, so maybe a huge salad and a few wings.

(146,218 posts)2014 is so yesterday.
I love chicken wings. I used to just marinade them with some soy sauce, oil, olive, honey and ginger, then broil or grill them. Making my mouth water as we speak.
Just push button C13, and that should do the trick.

(2,016 posts)I do like the 'asian sticky wings' recipe I've been using for a couple of years. It starts out similar to your marinade (above), but with added hoisin and oyster sauces, chili garlic sauce, green onions/scallions and a little extra garlic. I reserve a little of the sauce, so I can toss the broiled wings before serving. Finger lickin' good.

(146,218 posts)My soup came out really well. It was just full of things that I love, but none of them overpowered any of the others.
It was quite work intensive, but worth every minute.

(2,012 posts)I was in a beautiful spot at the south end of the Hood Canal in WA over the weekend and there were blackberries everywhere. Such fun to eat them right off the bush. My daughter made an easy blackberry cobbler:
4 C fresh blackberries
1 large egg
3/4 C sugar
1 C flour
6 T melted butter
Pour berries into greased 8" baking dish or pan. Mix all ingredients except butter till coarse. Sprinkle over berries. Drizzle butter over all. Bake at 375 35 min. or until brown. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

(14,733 posts)the spaghetti sauce with onions and peppers from last night's grinders, so we sliced the sausages into discs, cooked up some penne, threw in some mozzarella, and mixed it all up. Rather generic, but filling.
I picked up some ground sirloin at the local butcher's, so tomorrow I'll be making up mozza stuffed meatballs to freeze for future meals.
I also plunked down a bit to pick up a mag from the rack at the checkout at the grocery - a special edition on canning, with over a hundred recipes, so I'm assuming I'll find some new ones worth trying. Already there was a 'cranberry catsup' one that looked interesting.

(35,652 posts)We had our handyman in today. That took almost all my time so I didn't have a chance to cook anything.
Consequently, I made some chicken cilantro wontons (Trader Joe's). They were delicious and easy. Had them with hoisin sauce, my favorite sauce in all the world.
I think I might bread some zucchini slices in panko and serve them with homemade tomato sauce. Sprinkle with parmesan and fresh basil.
That minestrone sounds wonderful, cbayer. I wish I could have that.

(32,079 posts)I figured Rachel for mid-late 30's.
I had leftovers tonight. A couple of weeks ago, Kroger's "Free Fridays" freebie was a Chilli's frozen dish for one. I got the jalapeno jack mac 'n' cheese. I doctored it up into something a little healthier by adding some steamed, diced zucchini & red bell pepper, some black beans, and more minced jalapenos, since it wasn't really hot enough for my taste. I meant to add some diced tomatoes, too, but I forgot. It turned out to be pretty decent, and I was able to stretch it into two meals.
