Related: About this forumHere's a picture of my 2014 Fair Cake, winner of Grand Prize. This was
my worst cake ever. Nothing would stay in place. 'Harry' actually fell from the tower during the fair last week. So, I killed Harry Potter with an 'egg whiteius disolvo' curse! The first picture is after I did a repair.

(34,095 posts)Such good work sinkingfeeling! I taught myself to decorate when my kids were little and did some little creative projects but stopped as they grew older. Never NEVER did I come close to something like this. I tried, we ate a lot of cake in crumbles while I tried.
You are a cake artist, this is very fun to look at.
Congratulations on your prize, well earned!

I agree with cbayer... if this is your worst cake... I'd love to see your other work.
My ex-mother-in-law had a friend who always entered the state fair with her cakes... she won a couple of times, but I loved going each year to see the cakes. Some, like yours, are so clever and well-done. My favorite was a simple cake... a dark chocolate cake, with fudge icing... the M&Ms logo on the top. It was split open with M&Ms spilling out of it.... gorgeous...

I wish I was creative. The best I can do is melt down tiny pieces of soap into one big bar (you would be surprised at how much soap you throw out when the bar gets too small to use effectively).
