Besides, I may have a little OCD or something because I love the process of peeling and getting it smoothly done. Including the white stuff!

Take the two ends and bite off the orange part. Either that, or use a grapefruit spoon to scrape it out.

If you bite it out, you get that wonderful orange aroma!

to minimize the waste. The point is just to break the membrane attachments where the sections join at the top and bottom. Still, its a use trick and will probably work with other citrus fruits, too. I really want to try it for grapefruit!

But the cut segments will dry out much faster than full segments with intact membranes, and if you are preparing for a party or for dessert that will be a factor. It's also going to be much less successful with Naval oranges, which are not as neatly segmented.

Supreme it and then you don't have all that yucky white membrane, just nice juicy sections.
