Every time I try to make a dumpling they fall apart in the water. Trick is to have water gently boiling, hoping for the best.

The most heavenly meal:

First course was chicken soup and it had dill and cheese in it.

Next course was veal. It was cut in small pieces and served with polenta with tomato sauce over it. The RG made the polenta from scratch and it was...so rustic.

Next up was veal breast with smoked vegetables, like leeks. The smokey taste was wonderful.

Finally, the last course was tres leche.

Two types of wine--one red, one white.

I wish I could just enjoy the rest of the evening with him, but I have a board meeting.

I'll probably fall asleep at the meeting.

housemate made it ahead so we could just toss it in while keeping an eye on the tree guys.

Who never showed up today, some sort of hydraulic problem with their machinery. Still waiting for a callback on whether or not they'll make it tomorrow, and a bit annoyed that they're having a hard time keeping us updated on when they'll be here.

topped with buttered bread crumbs and parmesan, steamed broccoli, tomatoes with balsamic dressing. 9 of the 10 family members loved it, including the 4 yr. old, 5 yr. old and the 6 yr. old. The 10th member-- a 7 yr. old boy only ate orange slices and bread. He had no problems at all with dessert. I don't know whether he is doing all of this for attention or what. Does anyone have any advice for dealing with a child who won't eat anything except certain kinds of pizza, eggs, cheese, hot dogs, some fruit, iceberg lettuce. Oh yeah, dessert--the kid is crazy for ice cream and chocolate. I don't want to cater to his immaturity and lack of willingness to try new things. His parents don't seem too concerned about all the processed food, sugar he eats. It has become an issue at our family gatherings.
