what's for dinner, election day edition - tuesday, nov. 4th

i'm thinking about roasted acorn squash stuffed with brown rice, caramelized onions and walnuts. i'll top it with parm and toss it under the broiler until brown. either salt caramel gelato or lemon sorbet for dessert. i'll pick up some beer on the way home for celebration (i hope) or to drown my sorrows (please gods, no).

Definitely steamed green beans. Not sure what else yet.

I'm gonna trek to the local Costco and see what's there. I haven't visited in a couple of months, and I finally ate through my freezer (needed a turnover before I shopped s'more.)

Got it in the crock pot this morning after I got back from voting. The gravy is still a bit on the thin side, but with another 3+ hours to go, it should thicken up enough.

I like watching Lidia. RG works with her company (and thus her son), though, and says they are, ummm, shall we say, very conservative financially. I want to go to Eataly in NYC. Can you believe I've never seen the place?

Veal stew with mushrooms. Brussels sprouts. Dessert might be more tres leche poundcake.

p.s. fizzgig, that squash sounds wonderful!

Haven't been there (too much expensive stuff I can't afford) but I hear it's wonderful.

Here's a link to what it's like:

http://www.eataly.com/nyc-restaurants

but what Great Aunt said...I would probably just look and not buy if it's overpriced. I have my sources for excellent Italian food in NJ at fairly reasonable prices.

I think it would be fun to go, though, and maybe enjoy one of the restaurants.

Why drive downtown and pay to park? Thought it would be fun to see. Maybe one day.

I don't think I've ever been quite as envious.

I hope you get to go to the one in NYC.

Just won't have leftovers. So re the above, it went back in the 'frig because he brought home chicken wings and burgers from the local TGI Friday's.

We watched election coverage with a friend who dropped by. Was fun.

It's too hot for the oven here, so I am concentrating on salads and things that can be cooked on the grill.

Last night we had company and had cheeseburgers and a salad with grilled summer squash. Delicious!
