Related: About this forumI was given a huge bottle of Gold Standard Whey: Whey Protein Isolates. But everyone in our family
is trying to lose weight instead of gain. Any suggestions what I can do with it? Will animals eat it - cats in particular.

(111,169 posts)like breads and breakfast cereals. Whey protein itself is low in calories, it's what body builders mix it with that puts on the pounds.
It's not going to hurt you and it's not going to pack on any pounds by itself. What it will do is boost the protein in that small bowl of morning oatmeal.
It can also be used as part of a weight loss diet, to ensure adequate protein in a deficiency diet, especially a liquid diet.
Web MD has a pretty good discussion of it: http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-833-whey%20protein.aspx?activeingredientid=833&activeingredientname=whey%20protein
Ensure is more to prevent weight loss than for gaining weight. I tried for years to get my skinny dad to drink it with 2 meals a day after his stroke. He grumbled and just got skinnier. Men.
