Dorie Greenspan @ WaPo

Morning, everyone! Haven't been around much the past few days or so as I was helping a little on Friday with the set up and participating in a great Earth Day art and music fair on Saturday. This was the third year for this annual fundraising event in support of a long time, well loved local environmental foundation. Lots of work and sore muscles, with little sleep, but also lots of fun. The forecasted inclement weather held off, so it was well attended and successful.

I finally slept so much last night, going to bed very early, that I've been spending the peaceful pre-dawn hours (since 3a) catching up on one of those things I've been meaning to get to and hadn't until this morning: Dorie Greenspan's contributions to the Washington Post Food section.

Was everyone aware that she's now making regular weekly contributions at the WaPo, alternating each week with either a column or live chat where you can submit cooking and baking questions?

They haven't seemed to publicize it as much (at least that I've seen) so wanted to give everyone a heads up that the next chat happening this coming Thursday, April 23 at noon EDT, if you're a fan and would like the opportunity to ask for her advice. All the previous columns and chats are archived for anyone who's missed it so far.

I rambled all over that link. Her take on shepherd's pie using chicken, sausage, and all sorts of vegs. then topping with sweet potato sounds great.

She's very down to earth with no pretension at all. If she isn't sure how something will work when a question is asked about how to modify something, she just says so. She's also very cheerful and encouraging, and grateful to those who follow and appreciate her.
