What's for Dinner? ~ Friday ~ February 3rd!

Last edited Fri Feb 3, 2012, 04:11 PM - Edit history (1)

Allo!

Hope you are all happy and well.
I think Bill is making his amazing egg rolls for a neighbor tonight, but I'm going to go with soft foods.
Maybe eggs, for myself. Bad tummy lately.

What's for dinner where you are tonight?

By group consultation, we decided Subway would suffice.

Pulled up in front of the one closest to me, and there was one employee and a line of 8 people.

So, I may do something in a few minutes, or just tell them to fend for themselves.

Leaning towards the "fend for yourselves" option.

Sometimes grazing is a winner and I come up with something amazing.
Other times it would be tortillas and an ice cream sandwich.

Recently it has been eggos with pumpkin pie spiced butter with maple syrup and extra cinnamon.
I miss my juice though. I need to buy a new juicer. :/

and I am going to try to find a replacement for it, or get it fixed first. (I've been using his juicer)

If I were buying for me, I'd be looking at reviews for power and ease of cleaning. If it's a pita to clean I wont use it, and I do carrots in my base mix, so it has to have some oomph to grind through several carrots a day.

I think I'd want to try the juice from the more expensive models that grind it all and leave no pulp before I thought seriously about buying one of those, but I've heard nothing but praise for Vita-Mix.

BUT - this time I roasted the avocados, based on the discussion in the previous thread where I was making them. I just sprinkled them with vinegar and stuck them in the oven. I absolutely couldn't taste the vinegar when they came out, but the remarkable thing was that it was just like the other website claimed - they didn't get mushy at all, they were indeed "meaty." Like I could picture telling someone: "roasted avocado? tastes like chicken."

Not sure of the time, but they were on the same pan as tilapia fillets, so as long as it takes for those to cook.

soft fried eggs on fresh homemade bread, cheese and miracle whip and sweet onion sliced thin. Not the healthiest sandwich but the lentil soup makes up for it.

Which is a good thing.
I need to see if I have lentils on hand. A nice bowl of soup sounds good today. Rainy here!

so I had a Polish sausage on an onion roll, strawberry yogurt, popcorn and green tea. Yes, yes, I know, where's the vegetable? It's in the refrigerator waiting for me to fix it tomorrow... or Sunday. Or sometime.

Friday is always raccoon night where we try to use up anything left in the fridge. Sometimes it's slim pickins but then they are free to make a sandwich.

I'm going to make this Chicken with Saffron Rice recipe from Williams Sonoma again. It's fantastic. I love any recipe with Sherry in it! Use a Fino for this one.
