What's for Dinner, Fri., Oct. 30, 2015

I'm going to cook up more soup tonight. I thawed some chicken broth I'd had in the freezer. I'm busily browsing recipes now.

On edit: I've decided an broccoli-cheese, using muenster.

Blackberries for dessert! Fresh ones I got from Aldi yesterday. They're beautiful and they were on sale, yay!

Since I can't get fresh quahogs... I must adapt. (S'ok - I'll be in Rhode Island over Christmas, and will tank up while there.)

A little chilly here in the High Desert this morning. Some soup is in order!

I read your post about how well it turned out.

I'm adding something: I forgot I bought pumpkin cheese ravioli, so I'm having that with the soup. I've got a big sage plant to cut leaves from, so I think I'll do fried sage leaves to sprinkle over the top.

Just olive oil over the ravioli, as the soup will be creamy.

9. Split Pea and Ham Soup

We are both retired and work out of our home, selling on the internet, Been so busy this week, we ate out 4 days in a row, Working on a big order that has to go to Dubai, finished the order today. It is in 3 big boxes, all ready to ship tomorrow. I cooked some split peas in the crock pot two days ago to make the soup, but had to put the cooked peas in the fridge until today when I had time to make the soup.

Today was a cool, rainy day, so a hardy soup was perfect. Also had some cold-cut sandwiches and some of my carrot mincemeat cake. I see all the healthy meals that are posted here, but we eat the old fashioned stuff, but I try to make it as healthy was possible. I cook with fresh vegetables and we eat a bowl of fresh fruit every morning. I use very little fat, except for baking, then I don't skim on the butter.

We usually eat breakfast around 9 in the morning, then eat lunch around 2 or 2:30. We don't eat again that day unless we are out for a social function.
