What's for Dinner, Sun., Jan. 10, 2015

The Brussels sprouts dish I was going to have last night, but didn't finish. It's all prepped, except for toasting the pecans. Uses fresh cranberries. A friend came over with a web site problem which I thought could be corrected in 10". Turned into 2.5 hours, so I didn't even have dinner last night.

Chicken with roasted poblanos and melted cheese.

I will put some Poblanos in the oven and let them roast while I knock off the last hour of daylight in the yard.

p.s. note to self: learn how to use the slicer on the food processor. Slicing Brussels sprouts on a mandolin is time-intensive.

(with a couple of turnips thrown in) and mashed/spiced sweet potatoes. Lima beans. Kale salad. We received a Christmas gift of two pies which had been in the freezer since Dec. 20, so I thawed the chocolate pie and we ate it with whipped cream. It was heavenly. It is dreary, drizzly, temps dropping here in Georgia today, so it was perfect napping weather!!

With mixed greens. I didn't have chicken fat so I browned the onion with chopped bacon. Delish.

I made a pot of baked potato chowder on Saturday. We ate the chowder with cold cut sandwiches. Today I was busy, so we finished off the potato chowder and I made come quesadillas with the left over meat and cheese. It is cold and windy here in North Texas so the weather was perfect for a bowl of hot soup.

I love ham loaf, and had a couple of pounds left over from a really good ham to use up.

Alongside, just twice baked potatoes and a lemony broccoli. Nuttin' fancy
