What's for Dinner, Sun., June 19, 2016

Beef rollatini (flank steak rolled up with filling, in this case cheese), made in my slow cooker. I also made tomato sauce for it to cook in, along with vegetables like chopped red pepper, onion, and garlic.

Tossed green salad.

For dessert, an ice cream sandwich using chocolate chip cookies.

Grilled zucchini. Cabbage sauteed with leeks (or slightly cremated in this instance--I scooped out the charred bits and ate them as a cook's treat!) Sliced Cherokee Purple tomato and purple bell peppers, which was the last of the Amish produce my sister brought last week

We picked our first harvest of gold cherry tomatoes (3 tinys) and ate them where we stood while inspecting the plants for tomato hornworm. Found 2 of the devils and put them in the bird feeders hoping they will be devoured by our lovely feathered friends. Tomato hornworms are the most disgusting things in the world--they have green blood.

Couple months ago bought a 5-lb eye roast on sale and froze half, wanted to make the 2nd half before I forgot about it and found it freezer-burned later. Smells divine. Cooking in covered roaster in oven with potatoes and carrots and "self-making" gravy - 2 cups water mixed with 1 packet brown gravy mix and 1 packet Lipton Beefy Onion soup mix poured over everything before cooking.
