What's for Dinner, Wed., Oct. 12, 2016

I’m going to use my new grill and make some grilled vegetables. I’m making grilled bok choy in ginger soy sauce and charred broccoli. According to my cookbook author, broccoli is one of the 10 top vegetables for the grill. The writer says the trick is to slice the broccoli heads into long pieces.

Flounder francese. I didn't make it; it's from the restaurant we went to Monday night.

Dessert: pistachio gelato.

12 oz. Trader Joe's Organic Vegetable Radiatore
Whole Foods organic green beans, steamed - added nothing but salt

Tomato sauce-
8 medium tomatoes from the garden - broiled 7 minutes, turned over, broiled 7 more minutes.
Peel blistered skin and discard. Tomatoes and juice from broiler pan are then pulsed in food processor

Pour the tomato puree into a heavy, covered skillet, add the following and simmer 45 minutes-
2 tbsp. olive oil
1/2 small onion minced, sauteed in more olive oil
6 cloves garlic - toasted in pan with skin on, then peeled, minced
1/3 cup fresh organic basil, chopped
2 tbsp. dried oregano - I like a lot of oregano
2 tsp. each rosemary and fennel seed (both finely chopped)
1 tsp. ground thyme
Salt, pepper to taste
couple dashes of Tabasco
