What's for Dinner, Sun., Oct. 29, 2017

There are so many leftovers here that I am going to just heat up a little here, a little there. It's just me, as the RG is on a business trip to the West Coast.

For example, a slice of pizza with chopped arugula rustica over it. Sliced pork with mango salsa.

A chopped salad.

Thin slice of coconut pie.

After 8 days in Las Vegas, I don't think my system can take anymore rich and decadent food!

Baked chicken leg, mashed potatoes, steamed green beans. Boring - and I like it!

Good to be back home...

recipe from Jamie Oliver, one extra bok choy large enough for two. Enjoyed.

And for dessert, something I almost never make, chocolate cake. Sadly, these days I usually OD on just a bite or two of the typical death-by-chocolate cakes we run into at parties, etc., a pleasure for decades that's become a form of aversion therapy with age.

But this one I'm really enjoying, Julia Turschen's "Happy Wife, Happy Life Cake" (which seems to deserve a more sophisticated name). As she says, "It’s incredibly easy to make and is decadent without being too heavy or too sweet." And it actually gets better while it sits in the fridge waiting to be finished off, so perfect for making ahead.
