What's for Dinner, Sun., Nov. 11, 2018

Pepper sausage stew. This is made with peppers from my garden--all kinds are in there. A few hot peppers, banana peppers, both red and yellow, and green and red bell peppers. Onions, of course. The sausages are kind of unusual--the RG got them from an Argentinian market he frequents on his culinary sojourns. Yellow rice sauteed with onions to go with it.

For dessert, oatmeal cookies with cream cheese and raisins on top. Hot spicy orange tea.

They were having a sale on them at Whole Foods.
With roasted Yukon gold potatoes and salad with ranch dressing.
Started with some cheese sticks from a local bakery.

sometimes the informality of it is fun. First course is tossed salad, then we have guacamole and tortilla chips, spinach and artichoke dip with pita chips, and "fat boys" - shrimp nearly split lengthwise down the back, stuffed with horseradish cream cheese, lightly dressed with lemon juice, olive oil, chili flakes and parsley with a spicy cocktail sauce for dipping. We were in La Crosse, Wisconsin last weekend and had these fat boys at Four Sisters Wine Bar & Tapas, which had a lovely view of Mississippi. Another tapas we had was walleye cakes with a spicy remoulade, but I don't think I can duplicate those.

Roasted legs and thighs with fresh herbs.

Twice-baked potato and steamed broccoli.

Freshly baked rolls with butter.

Apple pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Your stew sounds delicious, NJCher. For some reason, I forget you can put sausages in a stew.
