What's for Dinner, Sun., Nov. 18, 2018

The RG went to an Asian market in Ft. Lee and do we ever have the goodies to make my favorite kind of food. For starters, a bowl of soup with vegetables and Chinese dumplings.

Later on, skirt steak. Fresh spinach.

Dessert: Asian pears with triple cream cheese and toasted walnuts. Also dark chocolate.

1. Homemade pizza

I kneeded the dough and the rest is up to the Landlady(!).

Parboil a few fresh tomatoes then remove the skins. Mash ‘em. Add garlic, olive oil, oregano and anything else that sparks your fancy. Heat over a low flame.

Pound out the dough on a stone. Spread the sauce evenly. Add your favorite ingredients. We’re having green peppers, anchovies and onions. Cover all of the pie with real fresh mozzarella. Heat it at 400-degrees F until the cheese is melted and the edges of the crust are browned.

Pro Tip: you can always buy the pizza dough from a local pizza joint. One time when I did this, the young lady asked me if my order was to stay or to go!

2. I'm going out of town for the holiday--

So I had to use up everything in the fridge. I made a chicken stew (a LOT of it-- I had 6 potatoes to use!). It's sort of a fricassee, I think-- it's got egg yolk and cream as a thickener, and tarragon and thyme for seasoning. i had a basic recipe for the broth, but otherwise, it was whatever was in the fridge, including arugula and cucumbers. It's pretty good, actually. Of course, I have to freeze most of it. I hope it freezes well.

Your soup sounds great. The dessert too! I love toasted nuts on fruit.

6. Oh, my gosh,

for one insane moment, I thought you had made a mac and cheese with tuna sandwich. Heaven help me, I was trying to imagine how that could be. 😝

8. Hehehe

I was making a mac & cheese for a potluck later this week, pulled out a serving for myself. And a classic tuna, egg, mayo, dab of mustard, celery onion tuna salad.

11. Thankfully 😅 I feel much better

Tuna sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. All is right with the world - breathing a sigh of relief.

10. Leftovers

TJ has headed off to work so it is just FLFC and I for dinner.

I am having:
baked pork chop
baked sweet potato
stewed apples with raisins
cornbread.

FLFC has already had his dinner. It was Lil' Sticks Turkey Sticks from Gerber. He had some dental work done and this baby food meets his picky pallatte's needs. He likes hot dogs and Vienna sausage, but I think they are too salty and too chewy right now. He is sulking and grousing in the living room because I just squirted his NSAID in his mouth.
