Related: About this forumDoes anyone whip honey into butter for a spread?
This is not some kind of weird thing from my hillbilly family right?
Anyway whip some honey into soft room temperature unsalted butter.
Make a peanut butter banana sandwich using the honey butter on the inside of the bread (Texas toast thickness)
Butter the outside with the honey butter as well and grill like a grilled cheese sandwich.
USE CAUTION This sandwich is dangerous.
I have found myself contemplating making a third before coming to my senses

Do they still make that stuff? I think the company that made it was called Downey's.

The name is the recipe.
She buys Wasabi powder from an Asian market and fresh horse radish root anywhere.
Be advised we live in south western Illinois - most of the nations horseradish is locally grown so it's literally for sale everywhere.
Anyway, just grate about a tablespoon of root and mix with a heaping TEASPOON of wasabi powder and 2 sticks of soft butter. The finished butter should be a bit grainy textured and an almost pastel green
Chill into logs and put a quarter inch think slice on a steak just before serving

BTW, we're a cross between hillbilly and Texas and BOTH of my parents were US Army veterans. I always joke about being raised by 2 army sargeants! Mom was WAC, Dad was RA for 23 years.

It was something kids could make themselves while Mom watched, and it kept them out of her hair for a few minutes. Mom was from WV, so maybe there is something regional about it.
