Chicken legs, glazed with mango sauce.
A vegetable-noodle casserole-type dish. It is made with cappellini. After he bakes it, he sautes it on all four sides so it is golden and crispy.
Sliced tomatoes with basil and garlic sprinkled over them.

Firecracker chocolate for dessert.
I found this crazy chocolate at the store. I only bought one bar because I'd never purchased it before. When I say "crazy," I mean it has things in it you would never think you'd find it chocolate. Chipotle, for one thing. It is called firecracker chocolate. Well, I thought the firecracker referred to the chipotle.
So I'm having some and I start experiencing this weird sensation, like little explosions in my brain. It was pleasant and funny, but at the same time I thought I might be having a stroke!
I could not figure this out; it subsided when I finished a square of chocolate. I went back to the kitchen and checked the wrapper and indeed, this chocolate promises little explosions! So weird. But yet it made me laugh. "What is going on???!!!" I asked.
I went back today and bought 15 more bars because I was afraid they wouldn't be getting any more in. I will hide them in the freezer.

(1,537 posts)I made a stock yesterday from Asian spiced chicken wings and a big ol' beef rib. Simmered for 10 hours and added rough chopped celery, onion and carrots for the the last two hours of the simmer. Just a bay leaf for seasoning and cooled it off overnight (I had some leftover homemade cheese pizza for dinner last night). Strained the stock and kept the beef, skimmed most of the fat. Tonight I'll have a bowl of broth with added Napa cabbage and green beans and the crazy tender beef after the sun goes down.
Irisblue, I add toasted pistachios to my Italian salads and sometimes tortellini.

I wouldn't know about that since I don't have kids, but now I will check that out. Thanks for the tip, because I was definitely intrigued.

Oh, and a couple of shots of whiskey.
