Pork chops. The RG has them cooking in the cast iron skillet on the stove. They are very large pork chops and he has them in some kind of broth with potatoes and herbs. I want mine with apple sauce.
I bought a tray of miniature cornbread loaves, so they will go great with the chops.
Stopped by my other school garden and found some turnips that were pretty good sized. I brought them home and by the time I'd unloaded the car, the RG had a couple peeled and added to the pork chops!
I discovered something interesting about cornbread. If you put a sage leaf on top of a slice of cornbread, it's delicious--what a treat. We have a big sage plant outside the kitchen so I just clipped some off to have at dinner.
There's a large tossed salad with red ruffly leaf lettuce and the usual summer chopped vegetables.
No dessert here tonight; I'm going to my girlfriend's and she's fixing some sort of dessert there. Probably fruit since she's on WW.

(38,527 posts)I usually ask for one instead of cake for my birthday, as peaches are in season that time of year.

For Dad and Sis:
Probably the most beautiful rib eye steak I've ever seen, and Dad said it was the best steak he had eaten in "A LONG TIME." I made potatoes O'Brien in a pouch on the grill, and served peas.
