What's for Dinner, Wed., Apr. 8, 2020

Kale salad. It's baby kale cut into thin ribbons. Then olive oil, chili pepper and a few other items. Very simple, actually.

Ham sammiches on brioche with caramelized red onion on the side; the rest of the potato carrot soup.

Dessert: orange ginger chocolate bar and tea.

We're not cooking up much today. The RG went to the store and it took hours due to the "new" way of shopping (state gov't only allows 50% capacity, meaning you have to wait to get in). Washing all the groceries alone took me 90", but then it was $400 worth of groceries. It's a lot of work. I can see why people who don't enjoy eating all that much want to just have an energy drink and be done with it.

Question: Do you let your kale salad sit with the dressing on it for a bit before serving? Maybe it depends on the kale...

We're having elk shish kabobs on the grill...cheese tortellini with herb butter sprinkled with smokey blue cheese and a big green salad. No desert unless I get some motivation to make something...but the sun is shining and I think I'd rather go sit in it and talk sweetly to my chickens in the back yard.

I do let it sit with the dressing on it, but it really is as easy as pouring a T of olive oil over it and then "massaging" it a bit for a minute or two. That's all it takes to make kale a very tender salad.

I get hazelnut flavored decaf, and make that in the french press, and add plenty of Baileys. Good dessert!

Got it at the store yesterday. Put it in a bag to marinate in habanero-infused vodka this morning.

Blistered green beans seasoned with salt, pepper and a little Goya seasoning.
