What's for Dinner, Tues., April 22, 2020

The RG is "remaking" some dishes, since he can't have the same thing twice, I guess. The Brunswick stew is being transformed into soup, and that will be the first course. He made rice and there will be a couple slices of pork loin over that.

Carrot cake and ginger tea for dessert.

It was cold and windy here to day and we did a repair of our deck from a big tree falling on it during the last storm. The soup will be very welcome after being cold for so long out there.

I cheated. Scrambled eggs, smoked sausage, home made buttered bread, and blueberry pie. I used up the last of last years blueberries, and the new crop is just beginning to blush, I will be without the berries for about a month.

Ham slices reheated / fried in a trace of bacon fat. Fine cabbage threads with buttered crumbs. 'Baked' sweet potatoes.

we still have most of a sliced smoked picnic ham in the freezer since I don't like ham for itself. So I looked for recipes i have ingredients for and found two -- one a pasta dish and, for last night, a ham and potato, etc., casserole in cheesy white sauce.

Not bad, even nice for a change. Good because we're having it again tonight. But it used up a whole block of good cheddar I was imagining for something else.
