Bacon for dinner???

Does anyone have any really yummy ideas on how to incorporate a package of bacon into your dinner meal? I have a package that needs to be used today and my mind is drawing a blank when it comes to dinner...

Thank you for any suggestions

I'm not sure how to convert the coal units over to oven temperatures, but looks easy enough to "wing" the cooking temps/times.

You could uncover it for the last few minutes and let it brown a little on top if you wanted. You can use any combination of cream soups in this recipe.

I made cheese grits with bacon the other night, one of my favorite food.

I also often crumble bacon for salads or to put on baked potatoes.

Bacon, imho, is good on pretty much anything (including cheese cake).

Bacon is great on anything! I initially thought breakfast for dinner or BLT, but so simple and wanted something outside the norm...

And believe it or not, I've only tried grits in my life once and didn't like them - go figure :/

You could also cook it all up, crumble and store for awhile.

My husband claimed not to like grits either, until I made them for him the right way. Now he loves them.

My absolute favorite way to have them is Grillades and Grits. All that rich gravy over creamy, perfectly cooked grits. Yum!

Sounds odd, but cold or grilled they work. Maybe take a leap and use a bit of Asian dressing on the bread, as well.

(on edit) Or make as a stuffed pita thing with shredded lettuce...

You can always cook it and then refrigerate it. Can go for roughly a week in the fridge once it's cooked.

In general, bacon works great in pasta, as a topping, or wrapped around another hunk of meat, especially if that meat isn't very flavorful itself (like chicken).

I love to stuff jalapeño peppers with cream cheese, wrap in bacon and bake until crisp.

I usually serve it as an appetizer, but it could be part of a dinner.

Absolutely delicious!

Turn once.

Low to no popping, bacon still gets done.

What you don't eat right then and there, refrigerate. What you don't cook, freeze.

If you have a chuck roast, you can add bacon to a nice beef stew. Cook bacon first (5 or 6) in a Dutch oven, brown salt-and-peppered cubed chuck roast (about 3 pounds) in bacon grease, set both aside (chop bacon up into pieces). Saute 2 cups chopped onion till translucent, add some minced garlic for 30 seconds, then 3 tablespoons of flour. Cook that a minute, then deglaze the Dutch oven with 1.5 cups red wine (I use red Zinfindal) and 1.5 cups low-sodium chicken broth. Get that to simmering with 2 bay leaves and some fresh thyme (or your choice of seasoning), add the meat, get it simmering again, and pop it in a 200-250 oven for an couple of hours (whatever keeps the simmer going). Add pearl onions and some orange zest, and let it cook for another hour. Add some fresh chopped parsely at the end and serve with crusty bread.

and bake in an egg custard. Microwave the bacon a bit first, to remove liquid and some of the grease. It's easy and delish.

First, cook two slices of bacon to tide you over until you're finished with the rest of the recipe.

Then, cook six slices of bacon crisp.

Place two on the plate, right next to each other, or even overlapping just a bit.

Take two slices and slice into squares. Arrange the bacon squares on top of the two slices of bacon.

At this point, you might shred some cheese over the bacon squares. But do this in the privacy of your own home, so as to minimize the scorn of bacon purists.

Take the final two slices of bacon, and place them on top of the bacon filling.

Now would be a good time to cook more bacon. It should be done by the time you finish with your BBB sandwich. Bacon makes a tasty dessert after a bacon app and bacon-bacon-bacon sandwich.

a lovely bacon and asparagus quiche is a great supper

So many quiche variations will work with bacon.

By the way, the name for pasta with bacon, onion, parm, etc. is pasta a la carbonara -- if you want to look for a recipe.

Then separated them to three slices each, froze them in a plastic container, using the plastic to keep them separate.

When frozen, I took them out and tossed the three piece bundles into a ziplock to take less space. That way I never worried about them going bad.

I also toss all bread products into the freezer, because it takes me months to use up a loaf of bread.

that is cabbage rolls without the rolling.

fry bacon and onions in a pan. add green peppers, anything else you have around.
boil some cut up cabbage.

mix it all in cooked white (or brown) rice with lots of pepper, is how I like it.

put in the oven for a bit.
I also like to top it up with some campbells tomato soup. man, I love that stuff.

here's one I learned growing up: scramble some eggs, cut the bacon into small pieces and fry it up, make up a box of chicken rice a roni and mix them all together.

I don't know why, but it works.

And if you really want to kick it up, add some A1 sauce on the side.

Fry or bake the bacon, then just freeze it for when you need it--microwave briefly to thaw and away you go!
