hoping all is well with her, also.

I'm going out to dinner with my nephew, his wife, and my great-nephew, and hoping my 18 year old son will join us. The almost-16 year old is a total troglodyte and will probably not be dragged out of the cave.

Then my plan is for everybody to come back here and have strawberry shortcake. The version my husband grew up with and prefers is with hot biscuits (a little richer and sweeter than usual), not cake. The 18 year old says, "That's not dessert - that's just biscuits and strawberries" but I think they'll like it. And there's ice cream and whipped cream, so there should be some way for everybody to enjoy it.

I just made the spinach/zuchinni soup I had planned for last night. Had to make the chicken broth first.

Although it is an alarming shade of green, it is mighty tasty.

I have some baked chicken that needs to be finished off, so it's soup and sandwiches here.

How about you?

don't know how I ended up with so many leftovers this week. And there's a boatload of salad stuff which is probably what I'll have.

TGIF!

I was composing my post downthread when my 2 dogs came in from outside and decided since it's been a down pour today....they'd unbury some of their treasures and bring them in the house complete with mud and other items.

When I was going through chemo a few years back, one of the furry felines was catching voles and bringing them to me.

We did a mishmash tonight since we had pizza earlier in the week. T-man had meatballs and buttered parm penne and a bag of grapes. Madster had chicken wings, sausage, corn on the cob, cucumbers and is having strawberry/red raspberry smoothie for dessert. I'm eating a burrito with guacamole, red beans and rice, sour cream, shredded cheese and some salsa verde. Probably will snack on some fresh strawberries for dessert.

How did you make yours?

I've got some fresh tarragon and will put it in some mayo with S & P, a little lemon juice and some red onion. And I've got some excellent pita bread that needs to go, so it's all going in there. The top with some avocado!

And, of course, my very green soup!

diced red onion, grated carrot, scallions, some grated horseradish. Sesame dressing over it all. Chilled. Came out well on a really warm afternoon here (90 on the front porch).
