Sandwiches. Breaded green tomato slices, about an inch thick, on top of chicken meatballs on whole wheat bread. Sauce made to go with it is made with mayo and ranch dressing along with additional herbs, garlic, and olive oil. The bread is brushed with butter and garlic; then toasted. The meatballs are cut in half so the sandwich is easier to handle. The sandwich is the RG's creation, along with the sauces. Of course, I grew the tomatoes.
For appetizers, flatbreads with avocado spread.
No dessert tonight, but if I change my mind, there's some brownies with vanilla ice cream.
After-dinner drink is hot ginger tea.
We're weekending in our NYC apartment where we haven't lived since early March. It's a strange feeling when your home feels like an Air B'N'B!
We're ordering sashimi/sushi combo platters with miso soup and salads. I'm going to pick up a bottle of saki and we'll have green tea ice cream for dessert.
Don't miss President-elect Biden's speech tonight! And have a great weekend!

(732 posts)I have been a "bad" wife all week due to the election. To atone for my sins I am making the midwest special. Bar B Que pork steaks (slices pork butt, in sweet sauce), pasta salad, and a tossed green salad. Dessert will be brownies, so a full mid west high fat low nutrition meal. He will have some beer, I am opening up my Election Day Champagne (yet to be opened).

(2,012 posts)we had a garden and heavenly tomatoes which tasted nothing like the ones I have gotten from gardens here. My grandmother scooped them out and filled them with a delicious mixture like a salad but I can't remember what went in (except celery). Can anybody remember that great summer treat?
