I bought two heads of the best ruffly green and Boston lettuces yesterday, so tossed salad with red and green pepper, radish, red onion, chopped asparagus, black olives, and various sliced cheeses from our election party on Saturday.
Tortellini (pumpkin) which has sauce of onion, sage, butter, cream, a bit of garlic. Creamed, and then a little goat cheese from Denmark added to it.
Bison burgers on Brioche rolls. The RG makes them about 5" high with lettuce, cheese, tomato, and red onion.
For dessert, caramel core vanilla ice cream, but only a little bit. The RG is just having a shortbread cookie. Chai tea, too.

On another topic, I wanted to tell a bit about our election party that we had on Sunday. The weather was beautiful, so we had it outside. Only two other friends were invited, but they are long time friends who share our politics. In fact, we've been through a number of election watches/parties with them before. Sadly, on the first bush/SC steal, our friends had gone home that evening. We all thought Al Gore was going to be the president when we awoke the next morning.
Our friends brought chili, which was topped with raw onion and cheese. Also homemade corn bread. For dessert, brownies and ice cream.
The RG made beef short ribs with sauce. Also leeks and potatoes with pancetta. A plate of cheese and crackers.
Here's are pics of the table I set before our friends arrived. I sewed the cushion covers myself.
I'm probably having leftovers tonight but I wanted to say thank you for such a lovely post. The tortellini sauce sounds amazing.

(38,456 posts)We're having salmon. I can't remember the last time we had a piece of fish in the house.
I'll broil it w/ butter and dill and serve it with a wedge of lemon. (Al likes the lemon on the side.)
Creamy garlic/mushroom rice
steamed green beans
Dessert: we're still working on that stash of goodies we got over the weekend. I think I'll swipe the last slice of lemon cake.

(17,376 posts)Our rainy day favorite.
I made stock from the ham we had the other day and pinto beans from dry with the usual veggies and seasonings.

FLFC had some ham and more of those nasty greasy Steak-uums. These are apparently his new favorite.

(20,908 posts)i do wanna try pork shoulder tho. my mom got boars head kraut. NEVER AGAIN!
need franks. we do prefer bavarian. but not big on caraway sees, so just add some brown sugar to plain kraut. i liked it best done in my cast iron chicken pot. but kraut discolors if left in pot.
and best way to eat leftovers is fried in a cast iron pan + caramelize the kraut.
