Mushroom sauce over fresh pasta and in the middle a 3-4 inch meatball that the RG got from the Polish deli. The pasta and mushroom sauce he made himself.
To go with it, he made fried bread. Wow. I don't think I've ever had this. It has chopped parsley, pancetta, and lots of salt and pepper to go over the top.
Tossed green salad from yesterday. Now here is something I learned that's very interesting. TIP: If you store your salad in a stainless steel bowl and put a cover over it, it will be ever so crispy the next day! I made this salad yesterday and in my haste to clean up the kitchen after our meal yesterday, I put the bowl in the refrig with a plate over the top of the stainless bowl.
I meant to put the salad in a plastic bag or other container for storage overnight, but I forgot. When I opened it today, it jumped out with freshness! It looked like something out a restaurant ad! And it was just as delicious as yesterday.
Dessert is sliced pears and Brie. However, that's for the RG. I just made a fresh pot of decaf coffee and am having that for my dessert. (Gotta' make up for that fried bread!)

The purple cabbage, white cheese and red cranberry salsa made a very appetizing taco!

I think I got everything. We still work for a living here, and Thursday and Friday are not holidays here. So we put off the traditional stuff until our daughter and her SO could make it up here from the Taunus to the Rheinland.

(17,427 posts)I ate another full turkey dinner of leftovers this afternoon, so I am not into making dinner by myself (Tj works at the medical center tonight).
So tonight it is peanut butter and banana on wholewheat bread and a mug of Earl Grey tea. I wanted to offer FLFC a bite, but he is napping.
I'll likely have something more later, there is fruit and cheese that seems interesting.

FLFC: I'm not sure what he actually ate. He begged all sorts of things this afternoon that I thought he was eating, but I am spotting little piles of food on the floor.
Tj made a corn pudding, the kind with creamed corn. It is very sweet. FLFC was demanding more and I spoon fed him some. I was amazed that he was eating it. Then I stepped in a pile of corn kernels which had been sucked dry. At this point any calories are good.

(24,393 posts)Very interesting point on salad crispy-ness. I usually make a tossed salad by the bag, with added, onion, pepper, celery, ect. Usually 3 days is max in a plastic container. May look for a SS container with airtight lid. Thanks!

(5,474 posts)on Friday and today for both lunch and dinner. We like it that way. Tomorrow it will be turkey sandwiches for me and husband will probably finish the potatoes, gravy, wild rice, and stuffing. Apple and cherry pie for dessert. Haven't had to cook since Thursday so had plenty of time to work on my stained glass project. It is all good. Football tomorrow!
