If you don't get all of the roots, it will come back. For that reason it's best to grow it in containers, which you might want to consider if you are moving it.

The one and only time I've grown it was in a container that was taller than it was wide and I got decent results. I haven't tried growing it outside a container, but I suspect it would actually do better in a container around here or at the very least raised beds because the soil has a very high PH.
