Can anyone recommend a bush pea?

I was thinking about putting in a couple of rows of peas this spring, but I don't really want to do the whole trellis thing (lazy gardener). Has anyone had good luck with a particular variety of bush pea that doesn't require staking?

1. I like to plant edible pod peas. I use tomato cages and plant them around the bottom.

I like the edible pods peas cause I usually eat them right out in the garden as does
my grown daughter and husband..they just walk down the row chowing down.

3. Do tomato cages keep bunnies away and act like a trellis?

Any upkeep needed? Guiding the growing plant like it is a tomato? I find my time is so short that soon I have a large wild plant I can't seem to control.

And we do have bunnies, and I don't know why they don't bother.

5. Thanks, this could be an answer for us. I was considering porch potting beans so we would actually

get some and not just add energy to our long eared friends hopping friends!

2. Whatever is available from a "scoop your own" garden center.

They all produce about the same amount and I couldn't distinguish the flavor between varieties. Don't bother with packets. Find somewhere that has a "price per scoop" in a small paper bag approach. They sprout better. Be the ware, for here there are bunnies! The fuckers eat most of my sprouts. That and the beans. For some reason, they just LOVE those things.
