Trick-or-Treating for the Food Allergic: The Teal Pumpkin Project

Last edited Sun Oct 26, 2014, 08:01 PM - Edit history (1)

One child in thirteen have a food allergy -- eggs, nuts, etc. Why should they have to stay home on Halloween?

YourHHRS News.com: This Halloween, the Food Allergy Research And Education (FARE) organization is encouraging communities to start a new tradition that will help make this holiday season less scary for children with food allergies: the Teal Pumpkin Project...

This campaign encourages people to raise awareness of food allergies by providing non-food treats for trick-or-treaters and painting a pumpkin teal – the color of food allergy awareness – to place in front of their house...to indicate they have non-food treats available...

Participating is simple – paint a pumpkin teal, or download FARE’s promotional sign to place on your front door on in your window. Then just get some coins and inexpensive toys or trinkets to hand out to your food-allergic trick-or-treaters...
