took her in for a second blood draw yesterday so they could double check her calcium, which came back elevated the first time. levels are still elevated, which can be indicative of malignancy, kidney disease or kidney or bladder stones. she also had some protein in her urine.
vet said to not go into panic mode because these can be very non-specific symptoms. we're going to change her food, keep an eye on her and go back for another blood draw in three months to see what's going on.
the real challenge is going to be finding a food the dim one will eat, she is so picky about food.

(18,219 posts)I had a cat who had to go onto a kidney prescription diet, and I tried every one out there. Someone here on DU suggested Royal Canin renal diet, and that was the only one that she would eat. I also found that the prescription diet foods were guaranteed or your money back, so if the cat refused to eat it, the vet that sold it would take it back if you didn't use too much of it. This helped a great deal when she refused to eat Purina, Science Diet, etc.
I hope that this turns out to be nothing and levels return to normal.

(24,146 posts)but i don't remember the names. fat cat will eat just about anything, i'm just hoping the dim one will take to one of them. i'll keep that brand in mind.
thank you for the continued good thoughts.
