it appears both cats like the new kidney food

i took fat cat to the vet a couple, three weeks ago and the doc suggested putting her on a kidney-friendly diet. finally had the money to pick it up today and put a handful out for each of the cats when i got home. fat cat gobbled it right up and squawked at me for more and dingbat -the pickiest kitteh i have ever known - ate it right up.

i'll keep putting it out as treats for a few days before i move it to the bowl just in case, but i think we lucked out. it was rather pricey but if it'll help fat cat feel better (and maybe put on a bit of weight), i am willing to shell out the money.

we'll go back to the vet in the spring to see if it's made a difference. she's a senior kitty but i want to keep her around as long as i can give her a good quality of life.

What brand are you using? I had a heck of a problem getting my cats to eat a kidney friendly good. I hope that it helps. I have been there, and I know that losing a cat to renal failure is difficult. Let's hope the food helps give you time. Did you catch it early?

a lot of people i know have had trouble finding a kidney food their cat would eat, so i'm relieved we got it on the first shot.

the vet has us doing this as a starting point, no diagnosis yet, and we'll rerun the tests in a few months to see if there's any improvement. i'll keep an eye on her, of course, and go back if things look like they're moving in the wrong direction.

but that's almost $20 more than the vet. i checked the petsmart site and it doesn't look like they have it.

I am not sure if you need a prescription from the vet to get it on the internet. I had mixed results with that. But you should have no problems getting that from the vet though. It is expensive no matter where you get it, but if it helps, it is worth it.
