My fellow DU animal lovers,
I would appreciate it greatly if you would read the following news story, and if you feel you can, sign the petition to benefit Marley. Links to the Facebook page devoted to this situation and the petition site are listed below.
San Antonio is currently going through a very tortuous time in its attempt to become a "no kill" city and we need all of the help we can get to have justice where it is deserved for companion animals. Marley is at the center of a court fight. He is a hero dog who came to the rescue of a ten year old little girl when she was being attacked by two other dogs. What did that get him? He has now been declared a "dangerous" dog based on the current city code. The declaration of him as a "dangerous" dog requires that his owner maintain liability insurance, keep him confined, and Marley can only go outside of his own backyard if he is muzzled.
Thank you.

"Dog lovers at the moment would love to know why is it that responsible people like judges start ignoring facts and rush things in a crazy direction while a canines life is at stake. Look at the latest case of a dog named Marley whos at the mercy of a municipal court in San Antonio, Texas. A Labrador mix, Marley was one of the three dogs involved in a scene of dog attack that left a 10-year-old girl injured last month. All three dogs were declared dangerous and ordered to be put to death.
After the other two were killed by the authorities, evidence surfaced that Marley was not a dangerous dog; instead, he was a friendly dog and came to the little girls defense, as the girl herself and other witnesses admitted. While the earlier ruling was based on the girls statement when she was in shock, in the recent ruling by the municipal court, the girls new statement was entirely ignored as were testimonies from other witnesses."
